Huge thanks to all the lovely people who came to Bures Music Festival 2014. You helped us raise £12,500 for local charities, despite being one of the wettest in the event’s history!
The storms and tropical-scale deluge during the course of the five days failed to deter fans who flocked to the festival in their thousands. Peter Harries, Committee Chairman, Bures Music Festival, said: “We are truly celebrating this year, as the money raised increased by 42% from last year. This is an outstanding achievement and one that deserves a huge thank you to everyone involved.”
At the recent presentation evening, festival organisers were delighted to hand over cheques to dozens of worthy recipients. They included St Nicholas Hospice Care in Bury St Edmunds, St Helena Hospice in Colchester, and the Dream Appeal which raises funds for Colchester Hospital children’s ward.
Donations were also presented to those representing several charities and vitally important causes in and around Bures, including the Shine Together charitable trust which supports pioneering brain cancer treatment received by Bures schoolgirl Daisy Brooks, Ferriers Barn day centre, Noah’s Ark Nursery, local sports clubs and St Mary’s Church.
The committee is delighted that after 18 years and many changes, the festival remains such as success. Harries said: “Since the festival began in 1997, we have raised and distributed almost £170,000 to charities and other good causes.”
