This year the team behind BMF have not only been working hard to bring you five days of brilliant music, we’ve also been looking at ways to improve our impact on the countryside.
Fact: we’ve served over 60,000 pints since the first Bures Music Festival back in 1997. And while that’s an impressive amount of beer, it also means we’ve glugged our way through thousands of flimsy, unrecyclable plastic cups that litter our green and pleasant site and then end their short lives in landfill.
So this year we’re moving to sleek, high-quality ecocups for beer and soft drinks. They’ll be available in pint and half pint sizes with our lovely festival logo on them, plus this year’s music line-up. We’ve kept the charge to a minimum: £1 for the pint and 50p for the half pint. In fact, we’re subsidising the half-pint glasses as we recognise that families shouldn’t be overcharged. They’re also much less than you would expect to pay at other festivals, in keeping with our local and family friendly philosophy.
The real bonus is your ecocup can be used over and over again, throughout the weekend, and after the festival is over as it looks so good that we hope you’ll want to take it home as a souvenir.
The cups will be on sale at a special stall just inside the entrance gate, so please make sure you buy yours on the way in as there will only be a very small stock at the bar itself.
We hope you understand the change and look forward to a cleaner, greener festival for 2014. See you at the bar…
Good to see another festival changing to reusable cups. Makes sense to have one cup for the weekend that you can take home as a souvenir. Cheers!
